A focus on marine fisheries and aquaculture prepares students for careers related to marine fisheries and aquaculture, development, and/or utilization. Through their choice of electives and research, students can gain expertise in fishery biology, aquaculture, commercial fisheries, fishery economics, seafood marketing and quality, cooperative research, community-based management, or marine protected area management.
A strong quantitative scientific base centered on biological resources is supplemented with courses in policy, economics and management. During Fall term, MRM fisheries students can take advantage of specialized field and lab courses offered by OSU Dept. of Fisheries & Wildlife at the Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC) in Newport.
