Research and Interests
Professor Haller’s teaching interests include hydraulics, wave mechanics, and coastal engineering. He served as coordinator for the coastal and ocean program from 2003-2010 and as associate head of the School of Civil and Construction Engineering for seven years. Before coming to Oregon State University in 2001, he spent two years in a research position in the remote sensing industry. Much of his present research interests are related to developing remote sensing tools to better understand the coastal ocean. Processes of particular interest include: hazardous waves at navigational inlets, wave breaking, wave-current interaction, and rip currents. His research has been funded by the Office of Naval Research, DOE, The National Science Foundation, NOAA, Sea Grant, and the USACE.
