Educational Opportunities Program (EOP), Academic Advisors

What/who helped you to be successful at OSU?

My EOP Counselors. I have had two since I joined the program and both have been so helpful. I meet with them every so often and am able to discuss anything I would like to do during the term and they provide the resources to help me be successful. They have also connected me to people in career field that I am interested in.

What sparked your interest in the Earth Sciences?

In high school I took AP Environmental Science and loved the topics that were taught in that course. The same teacher that taught that course also offered a week long trip to a tropical location. During the summer of 2019, we went to the Dominic Republic and worked with a nonprofit that focused on coral reef restoration. I loved the field work that we did during that week and it inspired me to continue onto the route of studying ocean systems!

What advice would you offer incoming CEOAS students?

Take advantage of the resources offered! They are so helpful and make your first year of college A LOT smoother. There's so much that goes on in just 10 weeks so taking advantage of SI tables, tutoring centers, academic advisors, and other programs helps makes those ten weeks more fun!
