GEO 295 - Introduction to Field Geology
(3 credits, 2 weeks)

Location and Facilities: Owens Valley near Bishop in Eastern California

Accommodations: Owens Valley Station, White Mountain Research Center, 3000 E. Line Street, Bishop, CA 93514

Dates of Camp: September 13, 2019 to September 24, 2019

Course Prerequisite: OSU GEO 201 (Physical Geology)

Transportation: OSU Motor Pool Van. No private vehicles.

Gear: Field geology gear, sleeping bag and boots required (complete supply list). Fee covers some supplies.

Cost: Program Fee = $1000 plus fall tuition

GEO 495 - Advanced Field Geology
(6 credits, 4 weeks)

Dates of Camp: Monday, June 17, 2019 to Saturday July 13, 2019

Location, Facilities and Rules: Mitchell, Wheeler County, Central Oregon


Course Prerequisites:

  • GEO 201 Physical Geology
  • GEO 202 Earth Systems Science
  • GEO 295 Introduction to Field Geology
  • GEO 310 Mineralogy
  • GEO 315 Petrology
  • GEO 340 Structural Geology
  • GEO 370 Stratigraphy and Sedimentation (recommended)
  • GEO 415 Igneous Petrography (recommended)

Cost: 6 credits OSU tuition, $1,000 field course fee (including $100 application fee). Various scholarships are available to offset the cost of GEO 495. Please see application for more information.

Transportation provided via OSU Motor Pool vans. NO private vehicles allowed.
Lodging will be at the Mitchell Field Station, Mitchell, Oregon.
Meals are provided.
