CEOAS Outreach Community of Practice Guest Speaker: OSU Extension 4-H

11/6/2026, 9:00-10:00, Wecoma Room (CEOAS Admin Building) or via Zoom
Oregon Extension 4-H is an integral part of our land grant mission of putting research into action for the benefit of Oregon communities. 4-H reaches youth in every county of the state with programs that extend far beyond traditional agriculture and livestock projects. Through its" Beyond Ready" initiative, Extension 4-H is preparing young people not only for their first job, but for a lifetime of leadership, learning, and civic engagement. Many Oregon youth are discovering "sparks" in climate resilience, ocean and atmospheric sciences, environmental monitoring, coastal ecosystems, and natural resource management. We invite CEOAS faculty and staff to learn more about how their research, outreach, and educational programs can connect with 4-H youth, helping cultivate curiosity, expand access to STEM learning, and inspire future leaders in science and environmental stewardship.

CEOAS Trauma Informed Care with OSU Center for Advocacy, Prevention and Education

11/9/2026, 2:00-3:30, Burt 193 or via Zoom
Trauma informed care is not just for the professionals. We have all experienced trauma, and we interact on a daily basis with others who have as well. Whether you’re an instructor who wants to talk about a difficult topic in your classroom or are sometimes surprised by others’ emotional reactions, an advisor who wants tools to support students through hard times, an outreach volunteer who wants to interact thoughtfully with communities, or really anyone who interacts regularly with other humans, this training is designed for you.

Join Allison Wilson from CAPE as she provides practical tools for designing learning environments that allow participants to tend to their own needs, and tips for supporting people when they are triggered. This workshop will provide an overview of how trauma affects our responses, interactions and our ability to engage with services and support. You will learn how to respond to someone who has experienced trauma, as well as how to receive a disclosure regarding interpersonal or gender-based violence. We will offer information on compassionate interruptions, responsible employee roles, supporting students and colleagues through trauma, and how to care for yourself in your role as a supporter. Co-sponsored by CAGS TIDES (Together for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Support) and the CEOAS Outreach Community of Practice.
