Pat Welch is a physicist studying energetic marine environments, including phenomena such as topographic wakes. He earned a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Virginia and an M.S. in Mathematics from George Washington University. As a research collaborator, he contributes to observational and analytical projects in the glider group at CEOAS and at the Coastal Observing Research and Development Center (CORDC), drawing on a background that spans particle physics, autonomous underwater systems, computational algorithms, applied mathematics, and quantitative finance. Outside of academia, he is an accomplished whitewater kayaker.
