Vita or Résumé

Research Interests

Biomicrometeorology: Atmosphere-vegetation interaction, atmospheric turbulence, mixing in plant canopies (organised motion, coherent structures), flow and transport in weak-wind boundary-layers, dynamics of the lower atmospheric boundary layer, scale transitions from milliseconds to hours and days, trace gas exchange

Climate change science: Forest ecosystem responses and feedback mechanisms, carbon-water coupling, hydro-ecology, regional climate trends in temperature and seasonality

Instrumentation: Acoustic remote sensing (SODAR-RASS), spatially distributed sensor networks (optical-fiber techniques), trace gas analyzers

Current Research

Visit the Biomicrometeorology Group webpages for the most recent information on research activities

  • Field observations of energy, water, carbon dioxide and methane exchange in Oregon's forests (AmeriFlux Cluster of Supersites in collaboration with Terra-PNW group in the College of Forestry)
  • Inter-annual variability in ecosystem exchange and carbon-water coupling mechanisms
  • Vertical mixing in forests of different stand structure and density
  • Submeso flow and transport in weak-wind conditions
  • Space-time structure of the wind and temperature fields in the canopy layer
  • Field evaluation of passive wireless temperature sensors
  • Field evaluation of a new fast-response methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) analyzer
  • Cold air drainage and pooling in complex mountainous terrain
