Current Research

Jasmine Nahorniak has been a Senior Faculty Research Assistant in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University since 1997.  From 1997 – 2017 her focus was satellite data, ocean optics and data management.  Under Mark Abbott, Ricardo Letelier, and Curt Davis, Jasmine managed a direct broadcast satellite dish, processed ocean optics data, managed data for C-MORE (the Center for Microbial Oceanography: Research and Education), and developed a website for HICO (the Hyperspectral Imager for the Coastal Ocean) satellite data.  For several years she also worked part-time developing a commercial fishing safety database for Laurel Kincl (College of Public Health and Human Sciences).  Currently, Jasmine’s time is shared between the Regional Class Research Vessel (RCRV) program and the Ocean Mixing Group.  For the RCRV program, she is developing software to enable real-time, remote access to oceanographic vessel data.  Under Jonathan Nash in the Ocean Mixing Group, Jasmine develops software for remotely operated autonomous vessels.
