    Research Interests

I study the degree to which the flow regime controls channel form and organization in gravel-bed channels. Most recently, I've been working in the central Cascades to characterize and compare two end-member hydrologic systems: highly stable spring-fed systems and flashier snowmelt systems. This research will allow scientists and managers to predict how channels will respond to changes in the hydrologic regime caused by climate change, land use practices, or flow structures such as dams.
