OMSI Science Communication Seminar August 8th

OMSI is thrilled to announce the debut of Science Communication Seminars!  These half-day or full day workshops are designed as professional development opportunities for STEM-based professionals and will highlight a different aspect of communicating science in each seminar.  They are a great opportunity to build your science communication skills while networking with other scientists, engineers, and professionals in the field.
Our first two seminars, Developing Your Message and PowerPoint Data Visualization will take place Tuesday, August 8th. Descriptions of both seminars are below.  You may sign up for either seminar individually, or take both for a full-day experience.  Tuition is $125 for each seminar, or $200 for the full day.  Lunch will be provided for all full-day participants.
Science Communication Morning Seminar: Developing Your Message
Developing Your Message is a 3-hour seminar and workshop designed to help STEM professionals develop and articulate compelling messages designed to target the audiences you want to engage. This seminar will guide you through a process to understand your audience, clarify your goals, and craft your message. Whether you are preparing to participate in education outreach, write a blog post, or give a public presentation, this seminar will help you be a more effective communicator.
This seminar will be facilitated by a team of Science Communication experts from OMSI, led by Lauren Moreno, Director of Strategic Partnerships and Programs. Lauren has been developing and leading science communication professional development programs for STEM professionals for the last decade and was instrumental in developing the nationally renowned model, Portal to the Public. Amanda Fisher, Science Communication Services Coordinator, and Ian Sterry, Science Communication Fellowship Associate, will co-facilitate the seminar. Amanda and Ian have a combined 20+ years of experience designing and facilitating science learning experiences.
