Congratulations to Bojan Šavrič, graduate student in Geography, for receiving the 2015 Cartography and Geographic Information Society’s PhD Scholarship Award. Bojan’s research focuses on map projections and the automated selection of map projections.

Updates from the Library

Open Access Publishing Fund: OSU Libraries & Press are pleased to announce a pilot Open Access Fund for OSU faculty authors. The fund will cover article processing charges from open access journals, and is for authors who do not have access to other funds to cover these charges. Articles that comply with the eligibility criteria will be funded on a first-come, first-served basis until available funds are exhausted. The application and additional information is available at http://cdss.library.oregonstate.edu/oa_fund.

Trial underway for GeoScienceWorld. GSW includes journals and ebooks in the earth sciences:The trial for GSW  runs through March 31st.  Check it out and tell us what you think (resource evaluation form).

Using videos in your classes? Videos, including streaming media, are part of the library’s collection. If you would like to suggest new videos for class use during spring term, send requests soon to valley.collections@oregonstate.edu.Some examples of videos currently in our collection: Geologic Journey II (streaming),  Ganges River Sacred and Sullied (streaming), Japan’s Killer Quake (DVD), and Journey to Planet Earth series (DVDs).  Use 1Search to find additional video listings.
