NSF: Major Research Instrumentation (Limited Submission). The program seeks to improve the quality and expand the scope of research and research training in science and engineering, by supporting proposals for shared instrumentation that fosters the integration of research and education in research-intensive learning environments. Each MRI proposal may request support for acquisition (Track 1) or development (Track 2) of a single research instrument for shared inter- and/or intra-organizational use; development efforts that leverage the strengths of private sector partners are encouraged. The OSU Research office will issue a call for letters of intent (http://oregonstate.edu/research/incentive/); up to three proposals will be submitted to NSF. OSU due date: to be announced. (NSF due date: 1/23/14.)
Reminder to turn in travel reimbursement requests for travel through June 30, 2013 by July 5. Submissions may be electronic to firstname.lastname@example.org followed with original receipts turned in to Stephanie Dewey.
It has come to our attention that there are many bicycles parked in the courtyard rack that haven't moved in a long time. The rack is for daily use and not for long term storage. We'll be monitoring the rack over the next few weeks and tagging bikes that don't move. If there are bikes that haven't moved by July 15th, we'll take them to OSU Surplus. If, for some reason you're unable to move your bike by then please contact Jason Balderston (email@example.com, 541-737-7900) and we'll work something out.

A retirement celebration was held for Chief Engineer Bob Ashley in Newport on Monday evening. Bob started as an Oiler on OSU's research vessel Yaquina in 1969, sailed on UW's Thomas G. Thompson (the predecessor to the current Thompson) for several years and returned to OSU's Wecoma in 1988. He quickly worked his way up to Chief Engineer and continued in this capacity through the life of Wecoma and then onto Oceanus when she came to OSU in 2012. Bob's years of service to OSU, CEOAS and Ship Operations are much appreciated and he will be missed.
