Coastal Hazards and Change

Oregon State University researcher Peter Ruggiero studies beach and coastal change to help communities adapt to hazards and build resiliency.

How do beaches change after a storm? After a decade of storms? How do hazards such as flooding and erosion impact the way we interact with beaches, and how might climate change affect everything from future access to livability? These are the questions that Peter Ruggiero is trying to answer. The associate professor is working with Tillamook County to develop models that will help communities adapt to coastal changes and build resiliency.
