Strategic Plan for Hiring

CEOAS is a leader in the study of the Earth as an integrated system, providing scientific understanding to address complex environmental challenges. In support of this mission, CEOAS will build its capacity through strategic hiring and investment in research and educational infrastructure.

Our planned hiring will advance four cross-cutting research themes of Climate Systems, Biogeochemical Systems, Earth Dynamics, and Earth System Management as part of Oregon State University's strategic priority in the area of Advancing the Science of Sustainable Earth Ecosystems. Hiring will balance the need for breadth that spans the range of topics required to advance understanding of the Earth System, while building teams that work collaboratively to maintain and develop signature areas of excellence.

Our plan will build on the strength of CEOAS' focus areas in Physical, Chemical, and Biological Oceanography, Atmospheric Sciences, Marine Geology and Geophysics, and Marine Resource Management.

CEOAS will maintain and improve the infrastructure necessary for advancing our strategic plan, such as physical spaces needed for people and programs, advanced computing, database, modeling, and visualization capabilities, state-of-the-art analytical laboratories, technology and facilities development related to seagoing and other field programs, advanced observational systems, interdisciplinary collaboration beyond CEOAS, student learning and training needs, and dissemination of information to the public.
