GEO 295 - Introduction to Field Geology
(3 credits, 2 weeks)

Location and Facilities: Owens Valley near Bishop in Eastern California

Accommodations: Owens Valley Station, White Mountain Research Center, 3000 E. Line Street, Bishop, CA 93514

Dates of Camp: Thursday, September 7 to Monday, September 18, 2017.

Course Prerequisite: OSU GEO 201 (Physical Geology)

Transportation: OSU Motor Pool Van. No private vehicles.

Gear: Field geology gear, sleeping bag and boots required (complete supply list). Fee covers some supplies.

Cost: Program Fee = $1000 plus fall tuition

GEO 495 - Advanced Field Geology
(6 credits, 4 weeks)

Location, Facilities and Rules: Mitchell, Wheeler County, Central Oregon

Dates of Camp: Monday, June 19, 2017 to Sunday, July 16, 2017

Course Prerequisites:

  • OSU GEO 201 Physical Geology
  • OSU GEO 202 Earth Systems Science
  • OSU GEO 295 Introduction to Field Geology
  • OSU GEO 310 Mineralogy
  • OSU GEO 315 Petrology
  • OSU GEO 340 Structural Geology
  • OSU GEO 370 Stratigraphy and Sedimentation (recommended)
  • OSU GEO 415 Igneous Petrography (recommended)

Transportation: OSU Motor Pool Vans, no private vehicles

Lodging: Mitchell Field Station, Mitchell, Oregon

Food: Meals are provided

Gear: Field geology gear, sleeping bag and boots required. Fee covers some supplies.

Cost: 6 credits OSU tuition, $1,000 field course fee (including $100 application fee). OSU students eligible for $200 scholarship.

Application and $100 Deposit Deadline: March 1, 2017

We are not accepting applications from non-OSU students.
